Starvation is to an artist as stilettos are to a model; it may be painful at first but in the long run it is worth it.

I am finally understanding the term "Starving Artist." When I was younger, even though I enjoyed making art, I didn't understand why someone would want to be an artist. Since the artist would be starving I assumed they didn't make money and if that resulted in them being hungry why wouldn't they get a real job. I wanted to be an artist just not a starving one.

Since my enrollment in art classes I have been really inspired to work on my art. These past years I didn't draw or paint nearly as much as I do now. The only problem is I don't have much time to work on my projects. So I am learning to give up socializing and spending in order to make time and have money for my art. I believe this is were "Starving Artist" comes from. All I want to do is art.
